Corregidor: Malinta Tunnel

One of the highlights of Frustrated Sosyalera's Corregidor Tour...

... is the Malinta Tunnel.

Manong guard is all smiles. Sanay sa pikchur!

The tunnel had been dug through solid rock and offered complete protection from artillery or air attack. Command communications and medical units were located there. Gen. MacArthur set up the headquarters of USAFFE inside the tunnel where men and women would live and work during the siege of Corregidor. The tunnel was originally designed to house huge quantities of ammunition, food and supplies, and an underground hospital with a 1,000-bed capacity. The location of the tunnel beneath Malinta Hill made it ideal as a bomb-proof headquarters for the embattled Filipino and Americans defenders of Corregidor during World War II. During the siege of Corregidor, a number of shops and storage areas were added. -- corregidorisland.com

Token mood shot from moi. It's not just an old tunnel, it's also a theater! Tourists can opt to watch a light and sound show inside called the Malinta Experience.

Photobucket

Tickets to the show cost Php 180
(I think, I've forgotten now, but it's definitely less than Php 200).

Photobucket

The show was directed by Lamberto Avellana, the sculptures were crafted by Napoleon Abueva and narrated by the late Frankie Evangelista.
Thank goodness for the show, or the tunnel would've just given me the heebie-jeebies.

Photobucket

For visitors staying overnight, they can avail of the "Night Tour" of the Malinta Tunnel, where they can explore other areas not included during the day.

Photobucket

I think I'm satisfied with the exploration that I've done. Any more and I think it'll just give me a heart attack. Creeeeeepy.

Photobucket

But maybe I'll change my mind, you never know.

There goes the motivation, mom and I are going back to the Philippines on Jan 2010.    And with my passed experience there (being called fat and all)... I am in deep motivation to lose all the weight before I go.

Luckily, I have 1 year to do so.

Breakfast:  Apple

Lunch:  Adobo, Rice and Orange

Dessert:  2 pieces of Chocolate and earl grey (tea)

Dinner:

No in betweens na.  No chips.  No soda.  Nothing.  MY excuse of "being sick" is fading kaya I'm back to my daily routine.

Linking back and related entries

Posted by tabulas at 11:07 PM on January 5, 2009 in General News.

For patron accounts, I've added one new feature: linkbacks. Any time a Tabulas user posts an entry that links to a particular entry of yours, you'll see it appear in the comment view of a page. This will help you discover who's talking about your entries on Tabulas, and it is a way to encourage you to link to other's posts as well!

I've also started processing Tabulas entries for the "Related" entries feature - for those of you who don't know, this is a magical feature which will try to find "related" entries that you've written. Sometimes it's accurate, sometimes it's not. But it's fun to see what entries will show up

Related entries are processed nightly, so you may have to wait a bit to get related entries. All patron account should have had their entries processed, though.

Grabeh, napaka-productive ko ngayon sa work ha, for a change!

Kasi ba naman itong kapatid kong si Isang, pinamaskuhan ako ng libro:

O di ba?  Ang heavy, man.

Guilt trip!

So ayun, ganado tuloy ako magtrabaho today.  Sana lang magtuluy-tuloy di ba?  Hehehe

Water, water, water

Posted by Thefatsojournal at 03:10 AM on January 2, 2009.

Current Weight:  142 lbs

I must admit, today I ate a lot.  Considering that it's New Year's Day and my friends are here from New York and Los Angeles, we visited this great Champange Buffet Place at The Cliff House .  Then we went to my BF's-sister-in-law's house to eat dinner and some really yummy desserts.

BUT... how can I make up for this day since the GYM is already close?  Simple. I DRANK A LOT OF WATER.  Many studies shown that water is actually good for digesting the food we consumed.  Water and Tea (anything with zero calories) can help our digestive system digest the food faster.  IT also helps us lose weight.

8 glass of 8 oz glasses a day is the requirement amount of water we can drink per day (again too much can be deadly) and drinking water before or after eating can eliminate the hunger or the feeling of being full.

Today, I drank almost 12 glasses of 8 oz of water .  Now it may not help me with the weight scale tomorrow but rest assure, this new hobby (cause I love drinking soda) will help me achieve my goal weight in no time.
